Dust of Your Whips and Life Size Crucifix, It's Semana Santa!

Last week was Semana Santa. Translation: Easter. Further Translation: Spring Break, 2010!!! Kids get 2 weeks off from school and many families use the opportunity to vacay at the beach. Visitors (Mexican, American, Europeans of all kinds, and even some Japonesas) flood the city, making it the 2nd biggest tourist draw next to Dia de Los Muertos.

I was out of the city and missed the Passion reenactment but caught it in another city.

The great thing about Semana Santa is that everyone is out and about, walking around with friends and family. The number of street vendors selling tasty treats doubles and live music can be found every few blocks.

Papas fritas are my fav. They make them right in front of you and top them off with hot sauce and lime juice. Yummy!

Siobhan and Jake anticipate the arrival of their fried bananas.

Something tells me it was worth the wait.

There is something super sexual about those friend bananas. But, I guess that means I would definitely try them! Joller.
